American Idol, The Office and a New Favorite

Hello again! Welcome to my second blog! Hopefully I will really be able to keep this up!

So, tonight was another mediocre night for American Idol. I think there may be some mixed emotions out there, but I am really less than impressed with the new judges. They are too nice and are going to have to grow a backbone if this is going to be a successful season! We can't put mediocre or bad people through because they cry. Also, what's up with all the bleeping Steven Tyler? American Idol used to be a family show. Simon was as mean as they come (also humorous and intelligent) and I hardly ever saw them have to bleep anything he said! American Idol is just going to become what most reality shows are in general - trash. I'm hoping the judges will get it together and find some awesome contestants to turn this season around! But without witty Simon and crazy Paula, I'm just not sure that's going to happen.

P.S. Is it just me, or does it seem that kids who are 15 are just WAY too young to be moving to California by themselves and living away from their parents? Not sure I like the new age requirements. I don't know a fifteen year olds are going to be able to handle it!

Onto my favorite show - The Office! SO glad this show is back on TV and back into my life! Tonight's episode definitely did not disappoint! The whole basis of the show tonight was awesome! I loved everyone's New Year's resolutions - especially Creed wanting to do a cart wheel! He is the most random character and I love it! Also, so glad Holly seems to finally have gotten rid of her man. She and Michael belong together and the world has been waiting long enough for it to happen! Only a few months from now Michael Scott will officially be off of the show. We have no idea why or how it will happen, but if he doesn't end up with Holly (seeing that his goal from episode 1 was to get married and have kids) there will be a cry of outrage from Office fans everywhere! Also, I wish The Office producers would do us all a favor and just cancel the show at the end of the season. I'll admit that the majority of characters are hilarious and lovable, but the show will be nothing without Steve Carell. Let's have the show end on a good note, not get canceled due to poor ratings!

For the first time tonight I also watched Parks and Recreation. I must say that it is a pretty funny show. It has a good storyline and  I loved all of the different personalities of the characters. Rob Lowe was cracking me up, along with the guy reffing the basketball game! I will definitely be tuning in again next week to see what is going to happen next!

Shows to look out for:

Don't forget that Fringe starts up tonight! FOX at 9/8c! Make sure to watch - it's awesome!

Me and My Blog

Hello World. My name is Marissa and this is the start of a new adventure for me. I recently got married and moved away from my home town. With that being said, I have also become unemployed. So, clearly when I'm not cleaning my apartment or taking care of the hubs and the puppy...I am watching TV! YES! Recently, it has come to my attention that we really are lacking quality movies and TV shows these days. To me, it is getting to the point where it is ridiculous. So, clearly the basis of my blog will be discussing the good and the bad of current movies and TV shows. I know everyone may not agree with some of the things I have to say, but I feel like I need to get this off my chest. I love, love, love movies and it is so frustrating to see the things we are being forced to watch nowadays!

What truly pushed and inspired me to write this blog are two main things: The remaking of the Spiderman series and American Idol!

First of all, I do not want to go into great detail on the whole Spiderman ordeal seeing that the movie has not even come out yet. I am just at the point where I think a remake is ridiculous! The third Spiderman movie came out in 2007 - it is way too soon to be doing a remake! The true reason behind this is that the actors did not want to come back for a fourth film...and who can blame them, right?! I mean after three movies I say enough is enough ( so I won't even get started on Pirates of the Caribbean 4, 5 and 6 just yet)! As most people know, an Avengers movie will be coming out in 2012. IF Spiderman was being redone so that he could be part of this movie, I might be a little more okay with it, but it seems that is not the case! So why do it?! I know some parts of the third movie were a little corny, but overall it was a great series! I will have much more to say about this once the movie is released!

Now, onto American Idol. What did everyone think of the premiere last night? I have been a fan from the beginning, but even I stopped watching the show halfway through last season. For the first time in nine years, I was not impressed by any of the contestants. I also figured since Simon would be gone this season I might as well start getting over it. After watching the show last night, I was definitely correct in my assessment. I am still getting over the loss of Paula and the show is definitely not the same without Simon! There is no wit or intelligence provided at all by the new panel of judges. I got bored halfway through and quit paying attention. I have not decided yet whether I will give the show another shot tonight or not.

So that is my first blog. I hope everyone enjoyed reading it because there will be many more to come!

Also, at the end of every blog, I want to include either a TV show or a movie I think will be good. So for my first post I have 3 items that I would like to bring to everyone's attention.

Shows to looks out for:
  • "Mr. Sunshine": This show will be airing on ABC on February 9th. So far it looks like it will be pretty good. I'm really rooting for Matthew Perry after "Studio 60" was canceled so quickly!
  • "Lie To Me": This is one of the few good shows that is still on TV! I have never seen an episode that I didn't like. The season started up again on January 10 on FOX.
  • "Fringe": Fringe is so awesome and so creative! Unfortunately, it looks like FOX is trying to kill the show by moving it to Friday nights! We can't let this happen! The third season starts up again January 21, so make sure to tune in!
That's it for my first blog. Goodbye for now!
